IMAGINE RIT WALK-THROUGH
WHY MOLD?

Discover the beauty and diversity of mold at our interactive exhibition crafted by 10 RIT students. Challenge misconceptions, explore fun facts, and engage with mold visuals on our large-scale "petri dish" table.
We cycled through many, many iterations while learning Touch Designer.
Here are just a few…
VISUAL ITERATIONS

These are our final visuals for the project in action!
FINAL IMAGINE VISUALS

Precise positioning and calibration beneath the table surface were crucial for creating and interacting with the mold visuals—a hidden piece of art in itself.
TABLE SETUP

Materials: MDF panels, metal corner brackets, acrylic sheet

THE BUILD...
An essential aspect of the project involved constructing and ensuring the functionality of the table's intricate mechanisms beneath its surface.

DEVELOPMENT
Created in Touch Designer, the full node tree consists of four main parts– video input + camera calibration, marker tracking and recognition, user input handling and simulation, and projection mapping calibration.

EDUCATIONAL CONTENT
We made sure to have tons of information on the kind of mold that inspired our visual design process! We wanted to make sure people would leave with a better knowledge on mold!
TAKEAWAYS / EXTRAS!
We created buttons with six different designs on them, as well as wooden tokens with our logo – both of which were a huge hit at Imagine RIT!

The people behind the magic! Seven designers and three developers.
